Alex, with two Ph.D.’s in Mathematics and Physics, was born Romania, taught advanced engineering courses and graduate level courses at Worcester Polytechnic School in Massachusetts, before moving to Palm Beach County over 20 years ago with his wife and daughter. Alex specializes (of course) in SAT and ACT math and science as well as AP and SAT II math and science courses. In addition, Alex works with students in the academic arena, helping them grasp the often elusive concepts needed for success in the higher level courses of calculus and physics. He has been aptly named by our students: resident genius.

Melinda, an invaluable member of our team, is carrying on her family’s legacy, which spans three generations of educators. A native of Hungary, Melinda completed her formal education at the highly competitive International University of Pecs, earning a Masters Degree in Economics in 2000. Having spent many years studying abroad and working in countries including the United States, Austria, and Germany, Melinda is fluent in English, Hungarian and German and brings a unique worldview perspective to her students. In 2010 Melinda was awarded a teaching certification in the State of Florida, working as a lead instructor in mathematics at a local, reputed learning center before joining Alex Damian SAT/ACT Prep 15 years ago. Her sharp mathematical mind coupled with her enthusiasm for teaching and management skills make her a true asset to our team. Her students learn strategies and techniques that will make them successful in their professional life, way beyond the standardized test.

Alexandra “Sandra” is the manager of the English department and co-owner of Damian SAT/ACT Prep. Following in her father’s foot steps, Sandra has been instrumental at helping students overcome their fears of the science ACT section. Previous to joining Alex’s team, Sandra was a certified marketing trainer. With a formal degree in Intercultural Communications, Applied science and Womans Studies, Sandra brings enthusiasm and a fresh perspectice into her training technique. Since her start with Damian SAT/ACT Prep, Sandra has taught not only science but also English and reading of the SAT and ACT. Her dynamic style and genuine concern for improving the test taking speed skills are greatly appreciated by her students.

Christine “Chris” grew up in The Berkshires of western Massachusetts and moved to Florida after graduating from North Adams State College (now—Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts) with a degree in secondary teaching of math and English. Lake Worth Community High School was her “home” for 27 years, teaching all levels of language arts, math and SAT Prep. After earning a Masters Degree in reading, Chris became a reading coach at Boynton Beach High School. Eventually, Chris longed for her main passion of teaching students, so she then taught at Santaluces High School for four years before retiring in 2014. Since her time with Damian SAT/ACT Prep, Chris has enjoy seeing her students succeed on the math, reading and English portions of the SAT and ACT tests.

Born and raised in Jamaica, Lajhon has been passionate about science since his childhood. Lajhon acquired both his Bachelors and Masters degrees in the field of Geosciences from Florida International University, and he is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Geophysics at Stony Brook University. When he is not creating tectonic models, Lajhon is educating students on academic courses such as AP Physics, Pre Calculus, Calculus AB, Programming in Python Language, and SAT/ACT math. Lajhon encourages his students to step out of their comfort zones, while keeping them engaged. With his unrivaled charisma, Lajhon adds an energy to the office that creates a fun and relaxed atmosphere.

Paige, a friendly and personable English tutor, has been an excellent addition to the Damian SAT/ACT Prep team. Paige was raised on the East Coast of Florida and graduated with honors from Florida Atlantic University, earning a Bachelors Degree in English with a specialization in Writing and Rhetoric. Paige has worked in education for over 6 years and possesses an unbridled passion in helping to guide the next generation of students into literacy. Since joining the team, Paige has taught students many of the skills needed to excel in English and Reading both in academic courses and on tests such as the SAT, ACT, and GMAT. Paige’s techniques aim to help students not only with learning the material but also with time management and testing anxiety. Paige finds teaching extremely rewarding and believes that any student can be inspired to learn.

Irena is another fantastic math tutor that has joined Damian SAT/ACT Prep team with a high level of patience and understanding that is crucial for students struggling in mathematics. A native of Bulgaria, Irena has completed her formal education from the Technical University of Sofia, Bulgaria, and she has worked in education for over 23 years with high school and college level students. She has taught courses such as Developmental Mathematics, Intermediate Algebra, College Algebra, Trigonometry, and Survey of Calculus at Palm Beach State College and San Diego City College. Irena also tutored SAT & ACT standardize tests for different preparation centers in Bulgaria, California, and Florida. Irena is proficient in providing a comfortable learning environment in order for a strong student to be stimulated and an anxious learner to build confidence.

Carolyn has 25 years of experience as a college counselor and even longer teaching in high school and university classrooms throughout Connecticut, California, and Florida. She enjoys tutoring students for success in English, Spanish, History, Psychology, Religious Studies, and all aspects of research projects. She also specializes in preparing students for AP, SAT, and ACT. She is enthusiastic about guiding students on college application essays that will help them standout in the intensely selective application process. Carolyn has written over 100 articles for a variety of publications and also co-authored several books, including On To College, a guide to college admissions. She has also written her own book Engage! Setting the Course for Independent Secondary Schools in the 21st Century, which has been used as a textbook at Johns Hopkins School of Education. In addition to having established the program at Oxbridge Academy as Founding VP/Chief Academic Officer, Carolyn has studied or taught in 12 institutions of higher education and earned two master’s degrees, a College Counseling Certificate from UCLA, Secondary Teaching Certification in Connecticut, and has completed all of the requirements except the dissertation for a PhD in Social Science.
