While before students were in “charge” of managing their own time and spending as much time as they needed to finish the sections of the test, the new rule specifically will direct the proctors to enforce the time accommodation on every single section. Let’s say a student has an accommodation of 1.5 the regular time. Before, the student had to spend overall, on all four sections of the test, 1.5 times the total regular time. In the new regulation, students can spend only 1.5 the time allocated for each section. English 45 minutes times 1.5, Math 60 minutes times 1.5, Reading 35 minutes times 1.5, and Science 35 minutes times 1.5. The proctors will enforce the regulation and not allow students to spend more than 1.5 times the regular time on any section. Should a student finish a section before 1.5 times the regular time is elapsed, the remaining time will not be added to the remaining sections.
